Greater Lansing Entrepreneurial Awards to be Televised

The much-anticipated Greater Lansing Entrepreneurial Awards are returning this year in a new format.

Turn on the TV, put down the remote and settle in for an evening that honors the can-do attitude and innovative spirit of the region’s business community.

The much-anticipated Greater Lansing Entrepreneurial Awards are returning this year in a new format. The 2020 awards ceremony that celebrates businesses and business leaders that make a profound impact to the region and the community will be broadcast Nov. 14 on WILX-TV 10.

The popular ceremony is traditionally celebrated at a gala event, which was initially scheduled to take place April 1; however, like many other large-scale events throughout Greater Lansing, the coronavirus pandemic caused the postponement of the celebration in the spring.

While large indoor gatherings remain impossible due to the ongoing social distancing measures, organizers of the Entrepreneurial Awards felt it was still important to move forward to honor the members of the local business world who strive to make a positive impact and who have dedicated themselves to building Greater Lansing up as a great place to work, live and play.

The decision by 517 Magazine and its publisher, M3 Group, to move the awards to a televised format was made to continue that uninterrupted tradition of recognizing local talent as well to open the celebration up to the widest audience possible.

The half-hour special on WILX will be hosted by Tiffany Dowling, president and CEO of M3 Group and publisher of 517 Magazine. It will be produced by M3 Group’s video production team at the WILX studios.

“I’m beyond thrilled to televise this event on WILX,” Dowling said. “This awards celebration has been an important component in the area for decades and truly shows businesses that we see them. It’s always my favorite event and it’s more important than ever to spotlight the businesses in our community.”

The awards, sponsored by Michigan State University Federal Credit Union and Physicians Health Plan, are juried awards that undergo an arduous process to determine the winners. New this year, WILX is sponsoring a special award that recognizes businesses that not only survived but thrived in the height of COVID-19.

The awards also honor the Greater Lansing Entrepreneur of the Year and Business of the Year, to name a few. The December edition of 517 Magazine will be dedicated to the 2020 winners of the Greater Lansing Entrepreneurial Awards. Interested subscribers should visit 517mag.com.
