Mason 100+ Women Who Care, a local philanthropic group, has awarded its latest quarterly grant to the Mason Area Historical Society to replace the dying courthouse tree.
“The Mason Area Historical Society is dedicated to preserving and sharing the stories of Mason,” said President Doug Klein. “The tree lighting is a long-standing and beloved tradition in our community. Although MAHS does not have the funds to do this task ourselves, our board of officers has approved asking for funding from others to replace the tree and move the electrical connection for the tree lights.”
Cost estimates provided to the society are up to $6,000 for replacement of the tree.
Previous grants have gone to EVE, Angel House and other nonprofit groups for programs that benefit residents of the Mason area.
