In 2019, the 16th annual Children’s Trust Fund Pam Posthumus Signature Auction raised nearly 500,00 in its mission to prevent child abuse and neglect. In fact, the Children’s Trust Fund within the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services has raised more than $60 million to support 100-plus prevention programs that serve the state’s 83 counties and has affected more than 6 million children and families.
But like many other events, the 2020 auction was sidelined due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The auction is a major fundraiser for the organization. Because the funds are used for so many important services — from respite care to home visitations, child development support and more — the show must go on.
This time, however, it has been adapted to meet “the new normal” for fundraising: the Children’s Trust Fund Pam Posthumus Signature Auction is going virtual.
The event will feature a weeklong silent auction as well as a premier live auction event Sept. 16.
“Through this fun virtual version of our Pam Posthumus Auction event, we will raise critical funds to further leverage federal dollars that will be used for the prevention of child abuse and neglect throughout the state,” said CTF Executive Director Suzanne Greenberg.
The event, sponsored by Cinnaire, the DTE Foundation and Jackson National Life Insurance Co. will auction items including a Detroit entertainment experience package, which will include premium tickets to a Tigers home game, Red Wings home game, a show at the Fox Theatre and a stay at the MotorCity Casino Hotel.
Virtual attendees can also bid on several exciting trips, sports memorabilia, Michigan-made items, wooden items created by the Michigan Department of Corrections Prison Build Program and much more.
