Klingman’s Furniture & Design, founded in 1896, has purchased a new location in Okemos, making this the company’s third showroom in Michigan.
Klingman’s has been operating on a short-term lease in the former La-Z-Boy site on Lansing’s west side to test the market. A somewhat successful venture led the company to purchase the former Toys R Us building on Newman Road near Meridian Mall in Okemos.
“We are very excited about the new location. It has been a long road dealing with purchasing the building through the Toys R Us bankruptcy to working with Home Depot on the site restrictions. We are thankful for the continued support and assistance of Meridian Township, Colliers International, First National Bank of Michigan and Home Depot,” said Jason Israels, president of Klingman’s Furniture & Design. “This is a trying time for such an endeavor, but we have faith in the community that business here will be a success and that we will create lasting relationships with our customers.”
Klingman’s plans to open the new 31,000-square-foot showroom in the fall. With the increased space comes an increase in job opportunities. Those with experience in furniture sales and interior design are encouraged to apply on Indeed or by emailing email@example.com.
