The first annual Mid-Michigan Suppliers and Hire Diversity Summit makes its debut at the Lansing Center from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 15.
The event brings opportunity to network with procurement officials and companies looking to hire, as well as listen to panel discussions on the importance of a diverse workforce. What is unique about the event is that it is strategically focused to women-, minority-, veteran-, LGBTQ- and disability-owned businesses and professionals. Anyone who wants to expand their network and create new opportunities is invited to attend.
Statistics show that companies who embrace diversity in their workplace and supply chain are more profitable than companies who don’t, according to Michigan Premiere Events founder and CEO Ashlee Willis.
Willis saw a need to create economic opportunity in mid-Michigan and make the job markets and workplaces more representative of the communities they serve.
“When our workforce is diverse, inclusive and equitable, communities thrive. Inclusiveness and diversity are also critical to retaining top talent,” said Willis. “We are honored to host the first annual Mid-Michigan Suppliers and Hire Diversity Summit presented by PNC that focuses on these efforts by collaborating the community together.”
Tickets are on sale now. There is still some room for exhibitors. Companies with a procurement program looking to seek supplies, or companies that are hiring and would like to become exhibitors, should reach out to Willis at Ashlee@MichiganPremierEvents.com.
Presenting sponsor for the event is PNC Bank. Other sponsors include Sparrow, One Love Global, Dart Bank, Warner, Michigan State University Federal Credit Union, Davenport University, Alliance Interiors, BWL, Dean Transportation, the Lansing Board of Water and Light, Emergent, and Genesee Health System.
