Turning It Up to 11: Couple Finds Their Calling With The School of Rock

For some, work is a means to an end. For others, a career strikes a deeper chord.

Jon and Sarah Jackinchuk hit the latter note when they opened a School of Rock franchise at 2037 W. Grand River Ave. in Okemos in 2019. It’s one of five in Michigan and part of a network of more than 350 schools across 15 countries.

Even though his initial undergraduate degree was in music performance, Jon also earned a master’s in accounting and worked full time in that field while offering lessons and helping with music at church on the side. Sarah’s background and work experience was in marketing. When they decided to run their own business, they started by researching the top 100 franchises growing in the United States. School of Rock was on the list, so they met with the organization, toured some of the locations and knew it was something they had to do.
