Two Men and a Truck’s website claims, “People really do get promoted and grow within this franchise system. This is a system that boasts impressive employee growth. ‘How?’, you ask. One in three franchisees started as employees. Further, more than 75 percent of management started elsewhere in the company. Opportunity? Yeah, we’ve got it. A lot of it.”

With that, the Lansing-based moving company has begun the company’s annual Career Move Month throughout the month of March. The hiring campaign, “It’s More Than Moving”, was created because Two Men and a Truck’s employees aren’t just moving boxes. According to the company, they are part of a team and each play a major role in a stressful time for someone else, while also building their career.

For example, Randy Shacka, president of Two Men and a Truck, got his start at the corporate offices in Lansing where he started as a marketing intern. It didn’t take long before he started to open franchise locations of his own, and he was promoted to the head of franchise development before ultimately becoming president in 2012.

Sarah Bennett, the company’s chief talent officer, started as a company admin 15 years ago. She is now responsible for the brand’s hiring campaign.

The Sparrow Advantage

“This year, our goal for Career Move Month is to receive more than 15,000 applications in the month of March and to hire 1,500 people nationally,” said Bennett. “We are also developing our customer-relationship center and tech department and are looking to hire within both of those fields. Within the Lansing area, we are looking to hire 150 employees from interns, movers, drivers and customer service reps.”
