I don’t think I’ll ever have enough Halloween decorations in our house! Halloween is one of my favorite holidays to decorate for. From ghosts to goblins to tricks and treats!
This month’s DIY is one you can use as a decoration for years to come on your front door or just hanging in the hallway. I loved mixing up the colors of orange, green and purple to create a BOO sign!
This is a quick craft you can create for yourself or for a neighbor to go along with goodies as part of the “booing game” that many neighborhood communities take
Wooden letters – BOO
Paint in a variety of colors for Halloween with a flat finish
Paint in a variety of the same colors above with a glitter finish
Halloween add-ons (fake spiders, pumpkins, skulls)
Paint the letters each a different color (this will be your base coat). Two coats may be needed. Let dry. (5 min) Dry time will depend on the paint.
Paint each letter with the same color that contains a glitter finish — let dry. (5 min)
I used an intertwined black and orange string to wrap around each letter to provide texture. (6 min)
Connect each letter using the deceptive string. (5 min)
Tie the letters together using decorative ribbon (you can create the look of a bow by folding in the ends of the ribbon). (6 min)
Glue on the decorative pieces. I recommend using a hot glue gun or super glue (be sure to use a non-expanding glue). (5 min)
Hang and enjoy!
This Halloween BOO sign can be used on your front door or inside your home. If you do use this outdoor, please be sure the area the sign will be displayed is covered and will not get wet.
You can also do this same craft for any other holiday, too! If you choose to do this for Christmas you can purchase letters that spell JOY, HOHO or NOEL. If you choose to do this for Valentine’s you can purchase the letters to spell LOVE. Have fun and get crafting!
