The YMCA of Metropolitan Lansing announced Kellie Dean and Marilyn Dean of Dean Transportation, along with Michigan State University’s Tom Izzo and Lupe Izzo, as honorary chairs of The Legacy of Magic Gala, taking place Aug. 22 from 5-8 p.m. at the Breslin Center in East Lansing.
The gala, hosted by the YMCA of Metropolitan Lansing, will honor Earvin “Magic” Johnson and the Johnson family while celebrating Johnson’s journey from his youthful start at the YMCA of Lansing to become one of the world’s most influential athletes, entrepreneurs and philanthropists. The honorary chairs will help lead community engagement and support for an evening celebrating the Johnson family’s lasting impact on Lansing and the YMCA of Lansing.
“We couldn’t imagine a better group of leaders to help champion this celebration than Kellie and Marilyn Dean and Tom and Lupe Izzo — who represent the very best of our community and share the same spirit of generosity, service and leadership that has defined both the Johnson family and the YMCA for generations,” said Casey Thompson, president and CEO of the YMCA of Metropolitan Lansing.
All proceeds from The Legacy of Magic Gala will support YMCA scholarships and facility improvements. For more information about attending, supporting and sponsoring The Legacy of Magic Gala, visit legacyofmagic.org.
