517 Day Set for This Weekend

The sixth annual 517 Day takes place from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday, May 13

A celebration of everything that is special and unique about the Greater Lansing area is coming this week. 

The sixth annual 517 Day takes place from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday, May 13. Presented by Me2U Promotions, the free outdoor event is being held at the southwest corner of Cesar E. Chavez Avenue and Larch Street in Lansing’s Old Town district.  

517 Day is an annual free concert event celebrating the city of Lansing. The event is organized by a collective of local businesses and cultural organizations, and the event features an all-day lineup of local talent and activities. 517 Day is a chance to come together and appreciate the unique culture of Lansing through music, art, vendors and more. 

This year’s musical lineup includes:  

  • Groove Doctors, noon to 1 p.m.: R&B, jazz, roots, rock and reggae 
  • Mark Grinnell, 1-2 p.m.: classic rock 
  • Sean Mic. 2-3 p.m.: family-friendly hip-hop 
  • The Black Barn Band, 3-5 p.m.: 1960s-1990s rock, B-sides and more 

Local advocate and DJ for 92.1 FM Metro Melik will serve as host for the festivities. This year’s sponsors include Addis Enterprises, Rathbun Insurance, Consumers Professional Credit Union, WLNS-TV 6, WLAJ 53, CW 5, Q106, Cruisin’ 92.9, Duke FM 94.1 and Stacks 92.1 FM.
