517living.com is not just an events website, it’s an experience.

More than community events, the page is about physical community and has played a role in bringing Lansing community members together. Owned by Sarah Pierce, the page also has a large Facebook following and speaks to happenings in the Greater Lansing area.

For the past few years, 517 Living has hosted the annual 517 Living Community Night, an in-person celebration for the Greater Lansing community featuring local musicians, entertainers, restaurants, and other key businesses and organizations.

Issues related to COVID-19 have made events difficult.

“Last year’s event, which took place at Woldumar Nature Center, saw over 300 people come through, so I realized that we’d need to think outside of the box to host a safe celebration this year,” Pierce said.

“After much consideration and brainstorming, I decided the best way to host a large event in honor of the 517 would be to substantially grow and disperse it,” she added. “Instead of one night at one venue, we’ll now have a weeklong celebration of everything wonderful that the Greater Lansing area has to offer, and the festivities will take place at multiple indoor, outdoor and virtual venues.”

Local businesses can participate in 517 Living Community Week for free by creating a special offer or experience for people to enjoy at their business or venue of choice. The event will run Nov. 1-7.

So far, local businesses participating include Paint your Poison, Lou & Harry’s, Ellison Brewery & Spirits, Airport Tavern, Menu Bubble, The Witch Bakes, Cottage Gardens Inc., F45 Training, Yoga Connect, Alexandra Jean Fitness, Healthful Wellness Studio, Skin Studio 211, AWS by Robyn Messing DO, The Healthy Glo, Healing Thyme Massage, Williamston Massage Studio, Gentle Earth Sound Therapy, Banzonzoes, Dyras Dental, Final Approach Detailing, Leading Edge Golf, High Caliber Karting & Entertainment, Scotty’s Handyman Services, Doug Milligan Photography, Rain Lundberg Photo, Forever Still Photography, AA Studios, AKA Photography, Sapo de Solis, ClauDesigns, Amber’s Creations, Grateful Heart Gifts & Art, New Revelations, Sweet Ceremonies by Candy, PalliPartners, Erickson Fun Run, and more.
