ArtPath Opens for 2024 Season

The 2024 ArtPath project opened to the public on Memorial Day along the Lansing River Trail from the Turner-Dodge House and Heritage Center to Elm Park, and an official ribbon-cutting and opening ceremony is planned May 30.

ArtPath consists of 20 sites of public art created by 22 Michigan artists along the 2.5-mile stretch of the Grand River. The celebration of public art runs through Sept. 2 and will officially begin with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 5:30 p.m. May 30 at the Turner-Dodge House in Old Town immediately followed by a kickoff celebration from 6-8 p.m. Kickoff festivities will feature lawn games, chalk art, ArtPath merchandise and more.

Other ArtPath-centered events planned this year include the Mayor’s Walk at 9 a.m. to noon June 1 from Potter Park to the Turner-Dodge House. Artists will be stationed at their respective ArtPath sites along the trail, ready to engage in conversations about their artwork. Participants receive a T-shirt, medal and snacks at the end. There will also be fun stations along the way to break up the trail for the kids. Registration is free and ends at 1:30 p.m. May 31. To register for the walk, click here.
