Junior Achievement Hosting Golf Classic

Take a swing this month at helping local students prepare for the workforce.

Junior Achievement of Mid Michigan is hosting the PFCU JA Capital City Golf Classic on Monday, Aug. 7, at Michigan State University’s Forest Akers West Golf Course. Registration begins at 8:45 a.m. with a 10 a.m. shotgun start.

“The JA Capital City Golf Classic is a fun networking and fundraising event for our local business professionals. It features a shotgun start, contests, live auction and a great cocktail mixer after golf,” said Susan Shilton, district director for Junior Achievement of Mid Michigan. “This fundraising event helps make it possible for JAMM to deliver financial literacy, entrepreneurial and work readiness programs to kindergarten through 12th grade students in the Greater Lansing area each school year. We provide these programs at no charge to the schools, so donations and our volunteers make it all possible.”

Junior Achievement programs lay the foundation for greater economic stability and give students the opportunity to improve their financial capability, understand the importance of staying in school and expand their vision for their future.

Junior Achievement of Mid Michigan is a division of Junior Achievement of the Michigan Great Lakes and an area office of Junior Achievement USA, the world’s largest organization dedicated to educating students about workforce readiness, entrepreneurship and financial literacy through experiential, hands-on programs. The organization offers programs to help prepare young people in mid-Michigan for the real world by showing them how to generate wealth and effectively manage it, how to create jobs that make their communities more robust, and how to apply entrepreneurial thinking to the workplace. Students put these lessons into action and are empowered to own their economic success.

“JAMM is grateful for our sponsors and donors who have helped make this event possible,” said Shilton.
