Recipe: Easy banana blueberry smoothie

As the days begin to heat up, you may want a quick and easy way to cool down. Here’s a healthy option, and it’s likely you have these ingredients, or similar, in your fridge or freezer right now.

WHAT YOU NEED:

  • A few ice cubes
  • 1 banana, sliced and frozen
  • 1 cup of blueberries, frozen
  • 1/2 cup of nonfat, plain or vanilla yogurt
  • 1/2 cup of milk

OPTIONAL:

  • Use a tiny pinch of salt to balance the sweetness.
  • Garnishes can include granola, dried fruit or chocolate chips for a little extra treat.
  • Kick up the health factor by adding leafy greens like kale or spinach.
  • Not into blueberries? Swap out your blueberries for strawberries.

WHAT TO DO:

Simply place all your ingredients in a blender and puree until smooth. SERVES 2.
