A one-day conference in Greater Lansing next month is designed to help commercial lenders better serve their clients.
The Michigan Certified Development Corp. is hosting the inaugural SBA+ Lender Conference on Sept. 13 at Eagle Eye Golf and Banquet Center, 15500 Chander Road in Bath Township. The MCDC is the No. 1 provider in Michigan of U.S. Small Business Administration loans. The East Lansing-based nonprofit helps borrowers and lender secure SBA 504, SBA 7(a) and SBA Community Advantage loans.
“MCDC specializes in providing SBA loans in Michigan. SBA loans help business owners secure a loan for their business with less money down, a longer term and lower interest rate than conventional bank or credit union loans,” said Eric Kehler, vice president of SBA 504 lending at the MCDC. “Our SBA conference is geared to educate lenders on the benefits of SBA loans for them to better educate their clients.”
The upcoming conference is designed to benefit commercial lenders, SBA coordinators, commercial credit underwriters, and construction and servicing staff. Topics at the conference include:
- An SBA 504 deep dive covering rules and new developments.
- An SBA 7(a) update and overview.
- An SBA Express overview.
- A Community Advantage
- Environmental due diligence.
- A guest speaker.
Registration for the conference runs from 8:30-9:30 a.m. Sept. 13, with sessions running from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The day closes with a happy-hour networking event from 4-5 p.m. Cost is $50 per person and $25 for each additional person from the same organization. A continental breakfast and lunch are included in the price.
“We currently have over 100 commercial lending attendees from around Michigan,” Kehler said.
While the SBA+ Lender Conference is geared toward commercial lenders, Kehler said next year the MCDC plans to host informational events targeting business owners.
